Skream - Guardian Guide Cover

A very belated post about this, in fact i completely missed its release back in December! The image, shot on tour with Magnetic Man for NME back in October 2010, fronts the article where Skream tells the Guide about his amazing work ethic, the evolution of Dubstep and fatherhood. You can find the full text by Sam Wolfson here and the cover illustrations were by Harry Malt.

Gabriel Bruce - NME Radar Feature

Described by Leonie Cooper in this weeks NME as “The bedsit lothario raiding Leonard Cohen’s soul and feasting on his own demonic lust“… Taking inspiration from themes explored in his debut EP, ‘Sleep Paralysis’, Gabriel’s four poster bed provided the ideal backdrop for his first shoot with NME

The Black Keys - Live

Rolling into Alexandra Palace a couple of weeks ago was Ohio’s favourite duo for the last of three sell out nights. Dan and Patrick unleashed new material and stomped through hits of old as if they were back in a sweat filled basement gig. Its my gig of the year already, and it’ll take some beating…

Azealia Banks

My opportunity to shoot the young Harlem rapper arose one Sunday in November at the Hoxton Hotel. Having just come off stage, she had plenty of energy left to perform for the camera, so here are the results below for you… Having topped the NME’s Cool List and named today in the BBC’s ‘Sound of 2012 Countdown’, this certainly won’t be the last we see of this young lady.

To ease you into 2012, here some portraits of the boys from Kendal, shot in Paris last October. I was lucky enough to join them for a couple of nights on the tour for NME, more pics of which can be found here. Enjoy, and Happy New Year!

Christmas is here: Capital FM’s Jingle Bell Ball

To usher in the festive season, I went along to the O2 arena to shoot this years Jingle Bell Ball for Capital FM. Over the two nights, pop acts such as Rihanna, Jesse J, One Direction and JLS had the pleasure of being shot by myself and friend/ colleague/ partner in crime, Danny North. It was great fun with lots of screaming pop fans and festive pyrotechnics!

Behind the scenes on Katy’s mission

Here is a small selection of backstage shots from my On The Road feature for NME. Writer Alex Denney and I hopped on the bus with Katy and the band to Brighton and Plymouth, and a lot of fun it was too! The Brighton show happened on Halloween, which explains the witch and skeleton shenanigans and rainy Plymouth brought the tour to a close.

Spector

The next chapter in Fred Les’ musical destiny, Spector’s debut material is the subject of many a band crush article. Effes pool hall Dalston is very much of the band’s heritage, hosting some of their early gigs and their latest video, ‘What you wanted’.

Indie and Molluscs

Latitude festival provides a sanctuary from the usual festival carnage with stuff like knitting, pink sheep and poetry, but its still good to see the kids go mental for The Cribs and the Vaccines…

The Vaccines - Glastonbury

When it rains, it pours… Not only in terms of the 2011 festival season, but the same can also be said for my blogging habits! This will be one of a few new blog posts catching up on what i was up to this summer, enjoy!

So the first, biggest and wettest festival of 2011 was of course Glastonbury. I spent some time with The Vaccines for their debut on the Other Stage, and i’m glad to say that the downpour as they strode on didn’t dampen spirits…

An English Gent Abroad

A couple of weeks ago i had the pleasure of spending a couple of days with Charlie Fink and his merry band in Ibiza. It was as about as Rock ‘n’ Roll as it gets, shooting and staying at the legendary Pikes Hotel where the likes of Freddie Mercury and Grace Jones have frequented in the past. The feature in this week’s NME, was to highlight Noah and the Whale’s amazing summer of festival performances, topped off with a swaggering show at Ibiza Rocks.

Laura Marling - NME Feature

In this week’s NME, my six page feature with the wonderful, Laura Marling. I joined her in the fresh air of Stornoway for a couple of days on her Highlands tour, and very nice it was too! Her new album, ‘A Creature I Don’t Know’ is out in September.
